Electricity is Uniquely Unforgiving

January 31, 2014 – In October 2013, ESFi-Canada held its second annual Electrical Safety Summit, which lived up to founding champion Peter Marcucci’s vision: “What we can do together will always be more powerful than what any of us can achieve individually”. While covering this event, EBMag interviewed four electrical industry players—each with his own unique and perhaps controversial perspective—to answer the following questions:

1. What is your No. 1 concern with regard to electrical safety? (Part 1 of 4)

Electricity is Uniquely Unforgiving – Part 1 of 4

2. What more can industry and consumers do to practise proactive electrical safety? (Part 2 of 4)

Electricity is Uniquely Unforgiving – Part 2 of 4

3. How do we convince people—in both industry and our personal lives—that electricity is lethal energy? (Part 3 of 4)

Electricity is Uniquely Unforgiving – Part 3 of 4

4. Why is ESFi-Canada’s mission so important? What void does it fill? (Part 4 of 4)

Facing our camera were: Jim Taggart, president & CEO of Electro-Federation Canada (EFC); Brett C. Brenner, president of Electrical Safety Foundation International (ESFi); Terry Becker, owner and president of ESPS Electrical Safety Program Solutions Inc.; and Gavan Howe, ESFi-Canada vice-chair and president & CEO of Howe Brand Communications, whose Master’s thesis included studying occupational risk-taking by electricians and those approved to work on electrical equipment.
